SUMMARY:Traditional medicine and herbs used in the time of Robert Burns
DESCRIPTION:Robert Burns grew up in a time of massive social change. Not only were there revolution in the Americas and France\, but also agriculture and medicine. How was he affected by being a child of the Scottish enlightenment? What did that mean for medicine and practical life for those close to the earth? \nRosie’s talk will cover herb use then and now and a tasting of some of the products the Burn’s family may have used.

SUMMARY:Autism Academy\, autism and story as connection
DESCRIPTION:Rosie will be attending and speaking at the launch of the new autism Academy in Fife. \nShe will relate her experience of using story as connection for those with autistic lives and those who are more allistic (neurotypical) and how we can come to greater understanding and self-expression. \nAutism is neither blessing or curse\, it just is. We are who we are. It is up to us to learn ways to communicate. Storytelling is powerful and suited to many\, creatively crossing divides.

SUMMARY:Festival of Museums\, Burns cottage
DESCRIPTION:Rosie will be storytelling at 2-4pm at the following event in Burns Cottage: \nOn the 21st May\, RBBM is partnering with Culzean Castle and Rozelle House to put on an event for this year’s Festival of Museums. It’s going to be a celebration of 18th century Ayrshire with costumed guided tours at Rozelle\, live historical cookery at Culzean and a ‘Georgian themed’ photobooth and craft room at Burns Cottage. There’ll also be a vintage pop-up café in the Red Room. I’m also hoping to have performances and recitations of Burns’s works in the Cottage throughout the day\, and maybe even demonstrations of activities such as bannock/ink/rag rug making if possible. \n–          Costumed characters at the Cottage doing performances/recitations throughout the day (just for a couple of hours at a time) \n–          Demonstrations in the Cottage \n–          Performances at the museum \nThe event will also include a bus service which will run from Ayr town centre to each of the three sites. This is only open to people who have purchased tickets
